MANILA, Philippines — Deputy Speaker Paolo Ortega V on Sunday urged the Senate to resolve its leadership dispute to prevent further delays in the chamber’s constitutional duties, including the conduct of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.

“If a house is in disorder, the important matters that need to be started cannot be properly attended to,” he told dzBB radio in Filipino. “The most important of these is the constitutional obligation of impeachment.”

“We really want them to resolve their internal issues because the big question mark… now in the 20th Congress is for the trial to finally begin,” he added.
