The district administration has launched a comprehensive decentralised network of rehabilitation centres to bring essential government aid, medical therapies, and training directly to the doorstep of differently abled people. The initiative is powered by the Tamil Nadu Rights Project, which has been actively operational in the district since June 2025. As part of the initial phase, a massive door-to-door survey is under way across all 16 blocks. Equipped with a dedicated mobile application, a team of 160 frontline workers are meticulously mapping the district’s disabled population to build a comprehensive digital database, ensuring no beneficiary is left behind. To streamline service delivery, the administration has established Sub-divisional Integrated Rehabilitation Service Centres in Sivaganga and Karaikudi, alongside Block-level centres spanning 10 regions, including Devakottai, Manamadurai, Thirupuvanam, and Kalayarkoil.Operational since January 31, 2026, the centres provide a vital lifeline by offering specialised counselling, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech training, and eye examinations. They are fully staffed with special educators tailored to assist individuals with visual, hearing, and intellectual impairments.Collector K. Porkodi has announced that the sub-divisional centres would operate from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, while the Block-level hubs would run from 10 am to 5:45 pm Monday through Saturday.Urging the people to utilise the resources, the Collector has emphasised that the localised centres are designed to dismantle bureaucratic barriers, allowing all eligible individuals to easily access government welfare, clinical therapies, and targeted skill training within their own neighbourhoods.
