The building society has shared a list of which branches will be affected over the coming monthsNicholas Dawson09:50, 07 Jun 2026Nationwide Building Society customers may soon notice changes at their local branch over the coming weeks. The organisation has released a statement regarding a new initiative being rolled out across all 605 of its UK branches. The mutual is fitting defibrillators and bleed control kits at every one of its branches, alongside offering first aid sessions. This follows a recent announcement from the group regarding plans for more exclusive savings products. The life-saving equipment will be installed over the rest of 2026, with the project carried out in partnership with Visa and St John Ambulance. The vital devices are already in position at certain branches, and Nationwide has published a list of all locations where the kit will be fitted during June, July and August. The kits will be accessible 24/7, unless the branch is within a shopping centre, and members of the public can use the devices as directed when they call 999. Nationwide is now the biggest provider of in-person banking services by number of branches, having recently overtaken Lloyds Banking Group to claim the top position.'Making it easier to access help'Amanda Beech, Nationwide's director of retail services, said: "Nationwide's unique reach as the UK's largest branch network gives us the ability to put life-saving equipment where it matters most - in places people already know and trust in their communities. By transforming our branches into visible, emergency hubs, we're making it easier to access help when every second counts.State Pensioners to face major tax change"Crucially we're also offering training to all our branch colleagues, before extending that training into the communities we serve. We want more people to feel prepared, confident and ready to act when it matters most."The building society is also partnering with St John Ambulance to deliver volunteer-led workshops in life-saving first aid techniques. This training opportunity will be made available to 4,000 branch staff before broadening into 'Heart of Community' sessions, equipping local residents with these vital emergency skills.Training sessionsThese sessions will teach participants how to perform CPR, operate a defibrillator, and treat severe bleeding in an emergency situation. Professor Andrew Hartle, St John Ambulance chief medical officer, said: "We're so pleased to work with Nationwide and Visa on this project, which so perfectly meets St John Ambulance's mission to put the power of first aid into everyone's hands."With hundreds more public access defibrillators and bleed control kits across the UK, and thousands more people confident to use them, I am confident many more lives will be saved in our communities." The defibrillators and bleed control kits have already been fitted across nine Nationwide branches. The devices have been put in place in Tooting, Peacehaven, Seaford, Eastbourne, East Ham, West Wickham, Maidstone, Northampton Kingsthorpe, and Redhill.Full list of Nationwide installation datesThese are the branches where the kit will be installed in June, July and August:June installationsAberdare - June 22Aberystwyth - June 15Ashby-de-la-Zouch - June 26Ayr - June 15Ballymena - June 17Bangor - June 19Barkingside - June 19Barnet - June 23Barnstaple - June 15Barry - June 17Basingstoke - June 15Bedford - June 23Birstall - June 25Bletchley - June 24Blyth - June 25Bognor Regis - June 18Boston - June 22Bridgend - June 16Brixton - June 25Bristol Cabot Circus - June 15Burgess Hill - June 19Buxton - June 15Carrickfergus - June 18Chatham - June 18Coalville - June 15Coleraine - June 16Coventry - June 15Croft Branch Swindon - June 25Cwmbran - June 15Dumfries - June 29East Kilbride - June 15Edgware - June 18Fakenham - June 25Fareham - June 16Feltham - June 15Galashiels - June 29Glenrothes - June 15Greenford - June 16Hammersmith - June 24Handsworth - June 25Harpenden - June 26Havant - June 17Hayes - June 15Helmsley - June 22Irvine - June 26Kenilworth - June 23Kilmarnock - June 26King's Lynn - June 23Leeds - June 22Livingston - June 16Londonderry - June 15Lymington - June 15March - June 30Marple - June 24Meadowhall - June 15Merthyr Tydfil - June 22Merry Hill - June 15Mickleover - June 22Middlesbrough - June 22Milton Keynes - June 15Motherwell - June 18Neath - June 17Northampton Moulton Park - June 22Northampton Weston Centre - June 15Nuneaton - June 29Paisley - June 17Perth - June 30Port Talbot - June 18Portadown - June 22Preston - June 22Redditch - June 15Ripley - June 22Rochdale - June 22Romsey - June 30Runcorn - June 15Saffron Walden - June 26Sale - June 15Salford - June 15Shawlands - June 15Shirley High Street - June 29Sittingbourne - June 19Southend-On-Sea - June 16St. Leonards-on-Sea - June 30Stanmore - June 17Stevenage - June 25Stretford - June 15Strood - June 17Sutton-In-Ashfield - June 30Swaffham - June 29Swindon Regent Street - June 25Telford - June 15Upton Park - June 22Wakefield - June 22Wallingford - June 29Walton-On-Thames - June 26Wandsworth - June 15Warrington - June 23Washington - June 15Westfield Stratford City - June 15Weston-Super-Mare - June 30Whitley Bay - June 25Wickford - June 15Woking - June 15Yate - June 15.July installationsDeal - July 1Derby - July 1Exmouth - July 1Newbury - July 1Allenton - July 2Colchester - July 2Farnborough - July 2Paignton - July 2Sandwich - July 2Torquay - July 2Broadstairs - July 3Broadstone - July 3Kingswinford - July 3Windsor - July 3Cheltenham - July 6Maidenhead - July 6Marlborough - July 6Rothwell - July 6Bexleyheath - July 7Ilkeston - July 7Middlewich - July 7Ramsey - Near Huntingdon - July 7Andover - July 8Macclesfield - July 8Shepherd's Bush - July 8Tiverton - July 8Torrington - July 8Wilmslow - July 8Camberley - July 9Horsham - July 9Kensington - July 9Penkridge - July 9Yeovil - July 9Harlow - July 13Old Swan - July 13Portsmouth - July 13St Helens - July 13Wokingham - July 13Enfield - July 14Leigh - July 14New Malden - July 14Parkstone - July 14Winton - July 14Berkhamsted - July 15Bridport - July 15Chesterfield - July 15Tooting - July 15Weymouth - July 15Slough High Street - July 16Bangor (Gwynedd) - July 17Hinckley - July 17Kilburn - July 17Paddock Wood - July 17Wallington - July 17Accrington - July 20Chiswick - July 20Blackpool - July 21Morecambe - July 21Richmond - July 21Addlestone - July 22Horley - July 23Leicester - July 23Loughborough - July 23Cannock - July 27Finchfield - July 27Bilston - July 28Birmingham High Street - July 29Sutton Coldfield - July 29Scunthorpe - July 30.August installationsAshton-Under-Lyne - August 3Earl Shilton - August 4Wigston - August 4Grantham - August 6Long Eaton - August 6Birmingham Alcester Road South - August 10Codsall - August 11Stourbridge - August 11Shotton - August 13Shrewsbury - August 13Article continues belowLincoln - August 17.
