In an announcement on Thursday, May 21, Nationwide said that approximately 4.4 million of its members will pocket a free £100 payment next month. Nationwide further explains: "We are a building society not a bank, which means we can do things differently. Unlike our banking peers, we share some of our profits with eligible members.‌"We will do this by making a one-off payment of £100 to those who qualify." Notifications sent to those entitled to the cash confirmed it will arrive in accounts by June 30.Article continues belowHowever, should you wish to decline the payment, you have the option to opt out. On its website, Nationwide says: "You will need to let us know, no later than June 8 by calling us on 0330 123 9734, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, Saturday between 9am and 2pm, or by visiting us in branch."Once you have decided against receiving the 2026 payment, you will be unable to reverse your decision.
