SHAMEEN Thakur-Rajbansi, leader of the Minority Front, shares her heart-wrenching journey of grief and advocacy following the tragic loss of her son and daughter-in-law in a truck crash, calling for urgent reforms in road safety regulations.

This follows four truck accidents this week, including a multi-vehicle crash that claimed a woman’s life.

On Wednesday, a woman in her 30s was killed when a truck travelling in the Durban-bound direction lost control and collided with a vehicle, causing it to overturn, and triggering a crash involving several other vehicles.

Thakur-Rajbansi, whose son Pradhil Thakur-Rajbansi, and daughter-in-law, Priyanka Nunkumar, lost their lives in a horrific N3 truck crash in November 2022, said her grief was triggered each time she read about a death caused by truck accidents.
