Plans for the digital euro are gaining momentum in the EU Parliament. Following intensive negotiations in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), the MEPs' negotiators agreed on a joint position on Thursday, finding compromises on highly technical issues. This marks a turnaround after the Parliament's rapporteur, Fernando Navarrete Rojas, had previously only proposed the project as a downstream option.
