A ball of wool may seem like an unlikely catalyst for friendship, but a new partnership between 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day and Exclusive Books aims to prove otherwise.

The national initiative, titled Crocheting New Circles of Friendship, launches this June in the lead-up to and on Worldwide Knit in Public Day.

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 and takes place on the second Saturday of June each year. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other's company.

The Crocheting New Circles of Friendship collaboration will be rolled out across 15 participating Exclusive Books stores in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, creating welcoming spaces where community members can gather, gather, learn new skills, share stories and help bring warmth to those in need.
