The petition, dated June 4, 2026, accused the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Akinteye Babatunde, popularly known as "Babtee"; Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s Senior Special Assistant on Students' Affairs, Victor Olojede; and one Alimi Yusuf, also known as "Decimal", of involvement in the disruption of the protest.
Some rights activists, lawyers and civil society groups have petitioned the Oyo State Police Command, demanding an investigation into the alleged violent attack on protesters, journalists and a female photojournalist during the #BringBackOurPupilsAndTeachers protest held in Ibadan.

The petition was signed by human rights lawyers, Tope Temokun and Inibehe Effiong, alongside representatives of the Take It Back Movement, African Action Congress (AAC), Youth Rights Campaign (YRC), Committee for the Defence of Workers' Rights (CDWR), and the Education Rights Campaign (ERC).
