Kakinada District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the 44 infant mortalities reported across the district between January and March.At a review meeting on infant and maternal mortalities held here, officials reviewed the causes of the infant deaths reported during the period.According to an official release, Mr. Harendhira Prasad directed District Medical and Health Officer J. Narasimha Naik and other concerned officials to conduct a detailed inquiry into the 44 cases. Officials informed the meeting that no maternal mortality was reported in the district during the period.
