District Collector M. Abhishikt Kishore stressed the need to conduct a comprehensive study to enhance the quality of healthcare services and ensure proper utilisation of existing infrastructure at King George Hospital (KGH). He directed the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials to engage a competent agency and to submit a detailed report within two weeks. The Collector said that the exercise would pave the way for preparing a master plan for the hospital’s future development.Mr. Abhishikt Kishore was speaking during the Hospital Development Society (HDS) meeting held at the KGH on Wednesday.He further directed the KGH Superintendent I. Vani to conduct a study on the utilisation of KGH’s in-house oxygen plants and submit a report with recommendations for future action. He also emphasised the importance of strengthening fire safety systems across the hospital.During the meeting, the KGH Superintendent placed 14 development proposals before the committee estimated at ₹43.70 crore. The project include Underground drainage (UGD) network, rooftop sheds, power infrastructure upgrades, orthopaedic ICU facilities, Installation of lifts, development of internal roads, construction of a new Out-Patient (OP) Block and other infrastructure.MLA Ch Vamsikrishna Srinivas, NTR Vaidya Seva Trust Chairman Seethamraju Sudhakar, HDS members were present at the meeting.
