Health authorities have revoked the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital following the deaths of six newborns under what officials described as “unusual circumstances”.
The decision was announced on Thursday by Dr Pravath Chandra Biswas, head of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The newborns in a neonatal ward were taken ill and suddenly died over the span of a few hours
A memo instructs that all patients referred from the hospital be given immediate and proper treatment

Health department spokesman Zahid Raihan said initial information did not suggest any mistreatment as the cause of the deaths.
