The Malkajgiri police registered 46 criminal cases against owners and managers of spa centres following a major enforcement drive targeting illegal operations, unauthorised cross-massage services and violations of safety regulations across the commissionerate limits. The inspections were carried across 113 spa centres jointly by local police and Special Operations Team (SOT).The spa centres were found operating without obtaining the required permissions and approvals. Raiding teams also identified establishments that had constructed concealed rooms without transparent glass doors, a violation of prescribed safety norms.Investigators further found that many centres had failed to collect and maintain valid identity proofs of customers, including Aadhaar cards, driving licences and other government-issued documents. Several establishments were also operating without proper display boards or business signage, making it difficult to identify them and monitor their activities. The police also discovered widespread lapses in record-keeping, with many spa centres failing to maintain mandatory customer registers, employee records, therapist details, attendance registers and other statutory documentation.According to the police, 47 spa centres were inspected in the LB Nagar zone, resulting in 17 cases, while 30 establishments were checked in Uppal zone, leading to 11 cases. In Malkajgiri division-I, 17 centres were inspected and seven cases were registered. Another 19 centres were inspected in Malkajgiri division-II (Cantonment), where 11 cases were booked. Overall, the drive covered 25 police stations across the commissionerate. Published - June 06, 2026 08:23 pm IST
