A court convicted and sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in a rape case and imposed a fine of ₹12,000.First Additional District and Session Judge Eranna, on Friday, delivered the verdict.According to a release by public prosecutor Gurulingappa Teli, the accused Mallappa Bandappa of Anabi village in Shahapur taluk was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping a woman.The judge also imposed ₹12,000, giving liberty to the victim to file an application before the District Legal Services Authority for higher compensation, Mr. Teli said.The Circle-Inspector of Shahapur, Sharana Gowda Nyamannavar, submitted a chargesheet before the court after completion of an investigation.
