The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on Saturday conducted a special drive to remove encroachments in parts of the Amaravati capital region as part of efforts to enforce zoning regulations and facilitate planned urban development.The drive was carried out in Krishnayapalem and Venkatapalem villages. APCRDA officials, with support from personnel of related departments, identified and cleared unauthorised encroachments on roads, footpaths and government lands.During the operation, the authorities removed containers, temporary sheds, banners, flex boards and other structures that were obstructing pedestrian movement and vehicular traffic. Officials said the action was taken in accordance with the existing regulations aimed at ensuring public safety and supporting the systematic development of the capital city.According to APCRDA, the removal of encroachments will help improve traffic flow and ease movement for residents and commuters. The authorities reiterated that commercial activities may be carried out only in accordance with approved norms and regulations. They made it clear that installation of containers, sheds and other permanent or semi-permanent structures without permission is prohibited within the capital city area.The officials also warned against encroaching upon government lands, road right-of-way areas and other public spaces. They stated that strict action would be initiated against any future violations and that unauthorised encroachments identified in the capital region could be removed in accordance with rules, even without prior notice.The authority said similar enforcement drives would continue to ensure an orderly and planned development of Amaravati.
