The enforcement wing of department of town and country planning (DTCP) on Thursday launched an anti-encroachment drive to clear public roads in U Block of DLF Phase-3, officials said.According to officials, the four enforcement teams decongested 24 lanes in the colony and removed encroachments present in front of around 800 houses. Illegal dhabas, food counters, pushcarts, kiosks, cigarette stalls, iron poles, and seating platforms were also removed. In a few cases, private structures built on public roads and lanes were also removed.”According to DTCP officials, some individuals attempted to conceal their kiosks and other temporary structures to evade enforcement action; however, the teams conducted inspections, identified these structures, and removed them. Additionally, property owners were issued a final warning to remove water tanks placed outside their houses. The department clarified that if the structures are not removed within the stipulated timeline, action will be taken against them.DTCP officials said the action followed numerous complaints by residents regarding the structures in the U-block area.Recently, the Gurugram police also asked the department to take action, citing traffic congestion in the area, officials said.
