Seventy-two closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will start functioning on the main campus of the University of Calicut (CU) at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district from June 8.This is part of the ongoing strengthening of security steps on the campus. Visuals from these cameras would be available at the security office. At a recent official meeting, Vice-Chancellor (V-C) P. Raveendran directed the staff to step up the security arrangements in the hostels. The admissions to the hostels would be streamlined through an online portal. Police patrolling has already started on the campus.This follows a request from the V-C to the District Police Chief. The tender process for the construction of a surrounding wall is over.
