MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) on Saturday disputed a circulating claim that the first day of classes for public schools on June 8, Monday, will be suspended.

In an advisory, the DepEd labeled as “fake” a post that says: “Breaking news: The first day of classes on June 8, 2026 is cancelled. The new first day of school will be on June 15, 2026 in all public schools.”

“The circulating social media post on the suspension of the first day of classes on June 8 is fake news,” the agency said.
