MANILA, Philippines — Those who participated in the hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee pushed by the bloc of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano may face legal consequences as the probe is not on official Senate records, Senator Panfilo Lacson said on Friday.
Lacson noted that those participants include alleged former marines and the senators from the new minority bloc. Lacson pointed out that they may not be able to invoke their parliamentary immunity, noting that the hearing was not put on official records.
“Yes, they can be charged, possibly for cyber libel and other crimes since it was a bogus hearing and no parliamentary immunity may be invoked, not even the senators who participated,” Lacson said in a press release.
