The Football Ferns were tipped over by Haiti after giving up a one-goal lead in a friendly in Malaga, Spain on Saturday (NZ time).
It was the first meeting between the nations in women’s football and Haiti, the world No 47, fought back after Claudia Bunge’s second international strike for New Zealand.
She headed in Michaela Foster’s free-kick in the 41st minute, but goals either side of half-time turned the game on its head and the world No 33 New Zealanders couldn’t respond in falling to their first defeat in five matches.
Nerilia Mondesir levelled in first-half stoppage time before Lourdjina Etienne scored Haiti’s winner in the 47th minute.
It was the second international football clash between the nations this week after the All Whites were thumped 4-0 by Haiti’s men’s team in a World Cup warm-up fixture in Florida.
