New Zealand’s sevens teams gained a pair of victories to kick off the season finale in Bordeaux on Saturday (NZ time).
The Black Ferns Sevens will likely need to win the event in France to retain their world series title and thrashed Argentina (49-5) and South Africa (42-0) in their opening pool matches to progress to the quarterfinals.
Argentina finished with six players after Maria Brigido Chamorro was sent off for two yellow cards as Stacey Waaka and Jazmin Felix-Hotham each bagged braces.
Chamorro’s first yellow was for a high shot that Jorja Miller shrugged off before igniting a devastating attack from their 22 for Manaia Nuku to finish a stunning try.
Nuku and Mahina Paul also scored two apiece in their rout of South Africa ahead of their final pool match against France at 12:38am on Sunday morning (NZ time).
