In anticipation of the ELSTAT index for the adjustment of tahe cost of health insurance contracts, pending since 2025, insurers are introducing large hikes on premiums, mainly in lifelong plans.
The increases range from 4% to 9%, while in some cases of lifelong plans they exceed 10%, creating pressure on private health insurance policy holders, who see the cost of maintaining their coverage increase cumulatively year after year.
According to a complaint by consumer group EKPIZO, an insurance company announced hikes in long-term health contracts on June 1, ranging from 8.5% to 13%, while in some cases they even reach 30%.
