An 86-year-old man has been arrested in central Greece on suspicion of fatally shooting his younger brother, also in his eighties, with a shotgun, authorities said Friday.
A police statement said the shooting took place at the entrance to the suspect’s home in the town of Trikala Thursday. After the 82-year-old victim’s death, the suspect called police to the scene, the statement said, and gave himself up.
The man faces charges of intentional homicide, and breaches of laws on firearms and domestic violence.
The motive of the shooting was not immediately known. A lawyer representing the suspect declined to discuss the incident, saying his client would be providing details to an examining magistrate on Monday.
