According to court documents, Abubakar is accused of diverting N3 billion obtained through a loan facility from UBA Bank for the procurement of 5000 motorcycles allegedly found to be non-existent.
A High Court in Bauchi State on Friday arraigned the state's former Accountant-General, Sa’idu Abubakar, on a 16-count charge bordering on alleged diversion of public funds, fraud, forgery, criminal breach of trust, and abuse of office.
According to court documents, Abubakar is accused of diverting N3 billion obtained through a loan facility from UBA Bank for the procurement of 5000 motorcycles allegedly found to be non-existent.
The prosecution further alleged that the former Accountant-General deceived both the Bauchi State House of Assembly and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government by falsely presenting that certain loans had received official government approval.
