The SIU raided the Omar’s Motor Den dealership in eMalahleni on Friday, seeking to take the R3m Bentley belonging to alleged tender fraudster Hangwani Maumela.

In a significant move against procurement irregularities tied to Tembisa Hospital, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has taken action against Omar Motor Den in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga focusing its investigation on a luxurious Bentley Continental GT.

Two recent orders, granted by the Special Tribunal, focus on a high-end Bentley belonging to alleged tender fraudster Hangwani Maumela, a prominent figure in the SIU's investigations.

The seizure of the car comes in response to the dealership's failure to disclose the Bentley’s possession when served with a preservation order in October 2025, which sought to prevent the alienation of assets linked to an ongoing investigation.

According to SIU spokesperson Selby Makgotho, the investigation has unveiled alarming details indicating potential attempts to sell the car. While no physical movement of the vehicle has occurred, Makgotho said efforts were made to sell the car.
