Forest Department officials captured a leopard on Friday after it attacked five people across two villages in Holenarasipura taluk of Hassan district.The leopard attacked four persons at Ankavalli around 8 a.m. Jayamma, Nagaraju, Naveen and Jayamma were injured in the incident. The injured were shifted to the government hospital in Holenarasipur and later they were shifted to Hassan for higher treatment.The same leopard subsequently entered the cattle-shed of Suresh at Boovanahalli village and attacked his wife, Vasantha. The successive incidents prompted the department to launch a capture operation.Conservation of Forests V. Yedukondalu coordinated the capture operations with officers of the leopard task force in Mysuru and officials in Hassan division. A team of officials and veterinarian Dr. Adarsha from Mysuru were involved in the operation. The veterinarian sedated the three-year-old female leopard with a tranquiliser, and later it was captured.As per the instructions from the seniors in the department, the animal has been shifted to the rescue centre at Koorgalli in Mysuru, said a press release issued by the department.
