Sources further disclosed that the investigation is also connected to the earlier arrest of three NSCDC Mining Marshals, namely Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, ASC Iwodi Obochi, and ASC I Ibrahim Ayefu, in relation to the death of a fellow NSCDC officer, Levi Agada.
The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into operatives of the Force Intelligence Department (FID) Team N following a petition by Attah Onoja, Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals, alleging unlawful police interference in the unit’s operations.
SaharaReporters gathered that the head of FID Team N, CSP Abdulmajid Oyewole, was grilled and detained on Wednesday after being summoned by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the FID, acting on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
A source familiar with the matter said, "CSP Abdulmajid Oyewole and his team are currently being probed by the police on the order of IGP Disu, for alleged illegal interference in the activities of the NSCDC Mining Marshals.”
