Petition Demands Release of Detained Officers
The Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals, Attah Onoja, has accused operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department (FID) of orchestrating what he described as a coordinated plot to undermine the anti-illegal mining unit through “phantom allegations” and the arrest of innocent personnel.
Petition Demands Release of Detained Officers
In a petition dated May 27, 2026, addressed to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and copied to senior government officials and security agencies, and obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, Onoja alleged that officers attached to the Force Intelligence Department (FID) Team N were exploiting the death of an NSCDC officer, Agada Levi, to target members of the Mining Marshals’ management team.
The petition demanded the immediate release of three NSCDC personnel detained by the police and called for the transfer of the matter to the Department of State Services (DSS) for what he termed an impartial investigation.
