Jammu and Kashmir is hosting International Film Festival in the Valley, a move aimed at boosting tourism, brining investments and positioning the region as a preferred destination for film productionThe festival is slated to be held from September 7-11 across multiple destinations in the Valley. A senior official said that the festival would be organized by the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), J&K, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). Bringing together leading filmmakers, producers, directors, actors, critics and cinema enthusiasts from India and abroad, the International Film Festival of J&K aims to showcase the region as a growing hub for film and creative industries. Officials from the Information Department said the ensuing festival is held under the banner of J&K Film Policy, and is a sincere attempt to project J&K as one of the best film making destinations. “We are trying to rope in top-tier film makers from the country and abroad so that they choose J &K for their outdoor film shooting projects”, said the officials. The J&K Film Policy 2024 offers financial incentives, single-window permissions and location support aimed at attracting national and international productions.Bringing investment“The participation of leading national and international film producers can help attract investment into Jammu and Kashmir, increase capital inflows and showcase the region as a competitive and cost-effective destination for large-scale film productions,” said the officials. The delegation sought to explain the policy’s incentives, address concerns of filmmakers and promote Jammu and Kashmir as a viable and film-friendly shooting destination.
