Albanian leader urges the EU to keep Western Balkan 'kids all together'
Edi Rama, Albania’s prime minister, urged the EU to be bolder and move forward with enlargement before prospective countries risk drifting away from the bloc.
Speaking ahead of a meeting in Montenegro on Friday between EU leaders and their counterparts from the Western Balkans, Rama voiced frustration at the slow pace of the accession process.
“When the [Berlin] wall went down, [Helmut Kohl] didn’t say to the East Germans: ‘Now you have 35 chapters to go through before we are together,” Rama said.
