Newsrooms are shrinking, but IOL is expanding. After launching a massive digital-first recruitment drive, over 1,000 media professionals flooded the gateway in just 24 hours.
Independent Online (IOL) has welcomed an overwhelming response to its recently launched recruitment drive, with more than 1,000 applications flooding in within the first 24 hours of advertising multiple vacancies.
The rush of applicants follows IOL's announcement of a major expansion strategy aimed at building South Africa's leading digital-first media company. The aggressive growth plan looks to unlock fresh career paths for journalists, editors, digital specialists, marketers, audience growth professionals, and technology experts across the country.
The organisation recently opened up applications for a diverse range of editorial, digital, innovation, and audience development positions across its structures.
IOL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Viasen Soobramoney said the initial wave of applications had significantly exceeded the company's expectations and demonstrated a strong appetite for transformation within South Africa's media landscape.
