President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to officially launch South Africa’s rollout of a new long-acting HIV prevention injection, Lenacapavir.

The launch takes place during a high-profile event in Secunda, Mpumalanga.

According to the Presidency, the rollout marks a major milestone in the country’s fight against HIV/AIDS and efforts to reduce new infections.

The twice-yearly injectable is being introduced as part of efforts to expand biomedical prevention tools in South Africa’s HIV response, offering a longer-acting alternative to existing prevention methods.
