Athens Mayor Haris Doukas should be expelled from PASOK if he continues to challenge the party’s political strategy, a lawmaker from Greece’s main socialist opposition said Friday.
Doukas has repeatedly questioned the direction set by party leader Nikos Androulakis, despite losing the leadership race in October 2024.
“He cannot continue making statements that significantly water down what constitutes PASOK’s strategy,” MP Giorgos Nikitiadis told Skai TV.
“If he continues, I believe the leadership… should seriously consider his continued membership in the party,” he added. “My view is that you cannot be in the party and at the same time question its strategy.”
On Monday, Doukas called for PASOK to maintain an independent electoral course while also leaving open the possibility of post-election cooperation with parties to the left, including the newly formed Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) led by former prime minister Alexis Tsipras, if necessary.
