The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Prof Sadiq Gombe, on Monday insisted that the prosecution of some former party officials over alleged financial crimes would continue despite the adjournment of the case to August 17, 2026.
The proceedings, scheduled for Monday, could not go on after the court announced it would not be sitting due to unforeseen circumstances, forcing all parties to agree on a new hearing date.
Speaking with journalists after the court session, Gombe expressed confidence that the prosecution would proceed at the next sitting, insisting that the party had assembled sufficient evidence to support the charges against the defendants.
“We came to court early enough. Unfortunately, the court announced that it was not sitting due to unforeseen circumstances and apologised.
