The Rockets next season will don new uniforms that have a resemblance of what the championship teams wore in the mid-1990s. Troy Taormina / USA TodayJune 4, 2026 Updated 1:49 pm EDTThe Houston Rockets unveiled new uniforms Thursday that paid homage to the team’s classic red-and-yellow uniforms worn during the back-to-back NBA title runs in the 1990s.“We heard our fans … ketchup and mustard is back!” Rockets vice chairman Patrick Fertitta said in a statement. “From the time my family bought the team in 2017, we’ve heard from countless fans about how deeply these colors are tied to memories of Rockets basketball. We wanted to create something that celebrates the generations of fans who built Rockets basketball while inspiring the next generation of Rockets fans.”

The new home and away uniforms will feature the classic “Championship Yellow” trim that became a signature of the 1994 and 1995 NBA title-winning Rockets teams led by Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon. The uniforms also will include pinstripes.The new-look uniforms additionally will feature the fan-favorite “Dunkstronaut” logo, which “blends nostalgia with innovation and further connects the franchise to the spirit of Space City,” per the Rockets’ release.The white and black uniforms will both have the word “Houston” across the chest, while the red uniforms will have “Rockets.”The new uniforms will make their debut during the 2026-27 season.Jun 4, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern.
