The United States government has warned Nigerians and other international travellers against attempting to bring prohibited or restricted items into the country, saying violators risk confiscation of goods, penalties, prosecution, or denial of entry.
The warning was issued by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which said it is responsible for enforcing hundreds of laws on behalf of dozens of federal agencies to prevent dangerous, illegal, or restricted products from entering the United States.
According to the agency, certain items are completely prohibited from entering the country because they pose risks to public health, safety, agriculture, wildlife, national security, and the economy.
“CBP officers are always at ports of entry and assume the responsibility of protecting America from all threats,” the agency stated.
