Koppal Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Suresh Itnal has appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to enumerators who will undertake a door-to-door survey as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls scheduled from June 30 to July 29.Addressing a press conference after an interaction with media representatives at his office in Koppal on Thursday, Mr. Itnal said that the Election Commission of India issued a notification on May 14 announcing the schedule for the voter list revision exercise aimed at ensuring accurate, error-free and inclusive electoral rolls. He said that the primary objective of the revision is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls. As part of the process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every household and collect information from voters. Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties will also participate in the exercise to enhance transparency and public confidence.Explaining the process, Mr. Itnal said that voter data from the 2025 electoral rolls is being mapped with records available from the earlier intensive revision carried out in 2002.Officials and staff engaged in the exercise are currently carrying out the mapping process using the two sets of electoral rolls. He said that all voters covered under the mapping exercise will be provided with enumeration forms during the house-to-house survey. BLOs will guide voters in filling forms and obtaining the required declarations, including confirmation that they do not hold citizenship of any other country and that their names are not enrolled in more than one electoral rolls. The Deputy Commissioner said that the revision exercise will also provide opportunities for inclusion of new voters, deletion of ineligible names and correction of entries. It will help identify deceased, shifted and duplicate voters and facilitate updation of the electoral rolls.According to Mr. Itnal, Koppal district has a total of 11,92,307 voters in the 2025 electoral rolls. Of these, mapping has already been completed for 11,34,937 voters, while the exercise remains pending for 57,370 voters. He said that political party representatives have been actively involved in the revision process to ensure transparency and prevent any complaints that the exercise is being carried out with ulterior motives.Additional Deputy Commissioner Sidrameshwar and Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary T.
