Vibhu Krishna on Thursday said that the police apprehended two persons on Wednesday —K. Kiran Kumar (22) and Devagudi Uthaiah (35) — involved in the theft at a mill on Korrapadu road owned by Mr. Janardhan along with the stolen cash.Mr. Janardhan had complained to the police on Tuesday (June 2) that cash belonging to him and his business partners, kept for buying groundnut produce from local farmers, had been stolen from the mill premises.Police said during investigations we found an ‘insider angle’ in the crime. We suspected Kiran, who worked as a mill operator, and grilled him. He confessed to committing the theft along with his accomplice Uthaiah. According to the police, the duo entered the mill premises after disconnecting the CCTV camera. They broke open the door and the locker, and sprinkled chilli powder in the area, a technique employed by criminals to mislead the sniffer dogs.Mr. Krishna appreciated the Proddatur Two Town police team for solving the case in a short time.
