The southwest monsoon arrived in Karnataka on Thursday (June 4, 2026). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced the arrival of the southwest monsoon in the State with rains having lashed some parts of the coastal and interior Karnataka.“The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through 14°N/60°E, 13.5°N/65°E, 13°N/70°E, Mangaluru, Udhagamandalam, Kodaikanal, Thoothukudi, 8.8°N/79°E, 11°N/83°E, 14.5°N/87°E, 17.5°N/90°E,20°N/93°E and 22°N/95°E as on June 4 2026,” IMD said.Monsoon 2026 LIVE updatesIt further added that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Karnataka in the next couple of days.“The southwest monsoon has arrived as some parts of Mangaluru and Mysuru received the first rainfall on Thursday (June 4, 2026). The conditions are very favourable for further advancement of the monsoon in the next couple of days,” said N. It said that heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over interior Karnataka from June 4 to June 10.With regard to the temperature forecast, it said that there would be no large change in maximum temperature with a falling tendency for the next five days over north interior Karnataka and no large change in maximum temperature for next five days over south interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka.The IMD has already stated that the 2026 southwest monsoon seasonal rainfall (June to September) across Karnataka is expected to be below normal in most parts of the State.
