Councillor Samier Singh, the DA whip for the Governance and Human Resources Committee of the eThekwini Municipality.
The DA in eThekwini remains firmly opposed to the proposed rebranding of the municipality and the adoption of a new municipal logo, despite assurances from the administration that the rollout will not incur any additional costs.
The municipality concluded its public engagements regarding the highly debated R2.8 million logo rebranding initiative in February 2026.
The municipality stated that the new logo will be implemented gradually over five years, with the logo introduced gradually, as existing items and assets reach the end of their lifecycle and are replaced.
During Thursday’s council proceedings, DA Councillor Samier Singh submitted a series of questions to the administration, seeking clarity on the financial implications, implementation process, and strategic rationale behind the proposed rebranding initiative.
