The suit, filed before the High Court of Enugu State through their legal team led by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, was instituted by Dominic Okafor, Thankgod Chikelu, Chidi Nosike, Chisom Okafor, Ezeako Uwakwe, Ifeanyi Uwakwe, Chukwuka Uwakwe, Ndubuisi Chikelu, Anene Okafor, and Okenna Okafor.
Ten residents of Akwueke Umudim community in Imezi Owa, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State have sued the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Enugu State Government at the Enugu State High Court, over alleged gross violations of their fundamental rights following a military operation in the community that led to arrests, detentions, and the destruction of homes and properties.

The applicants stated that they are suing for themselves and on behalf of other victims of what they described as a military invasion and destruction of properties in Akwueke Umudim/Amuje Ezema, Imezi Owa, carried out on May 4 and May 6, 2026.
