Speaking on the challenges he faced while marketing Obi across Northern Nigeria, Baba-Ahmed said he had to confront identity politics and religious concerns in many parts of the region.

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has questioned whether former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, would be willing to make the personal and political sacrifices he described as necessary to market Peter Obi across Northern Nigeria during the 2023 presidential election.

Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during a recent interview on the Symfoni Podcast, monitored by SaharaReporters, in which he expressed doubts about suggestions that a future Obi-Kwankwaso alliance could easily secure widespread support in the North.

Speaking on the challenges he faced while marketing Obi across Northern Nigeria, Baba-Ahmed said he had to confront identity politics and religious concerns in many parts of the region.

“I know what I have faced. If you want me to repeat, when I jumped onto the ticket (Obi/Datti Ticket in 2023, I had to contend immediately with identity politics. I wonder how Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who flew from Kano to Anambra to go and challenge Peter Obi, will now go back to Kano and contradict himself. No, no, no. This will not happen,” he said.
