Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will win the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso made the declaration on Friday in Kano during the affirmation of consensus candidates for various elective positions under the NDC platform, a move that signals the party’s efforts to strengthen its structure ahead of the next general elections.
The former Kano State governor described the consensus process as evidence of unity, discipline and internal democracy within the party, noting that aspirants and stakeholders across the state had demonstrated political maturity by embracing dialogue and compromise.
Projecting confidence in the party’s chances at the national level, Kwankwaso told supporters that Obi would emerge victorious at the polls and assume office as Nigeria’s next president.
“I’m talking about Peter Obi. He will be flying our flag, and by the grace of God, on May 29, exactly one year from now, he will have been sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
