The City of Cape Town is inviting residents and road users to comment on proposed changes to sections of Charl Malan Street in the Bellville CBD that could see parts of the road converted into vehicle-free zones.
The proposed changes, which form part of the City's plans to upgrade the Bellville CBD as Cape Town's second metropolitan hub, are aimed at improving pedestrian safety and managing vehicle access in the area.
A public participation process opened on Wednesday, and will remain open until Friday, June 26.
The section of Charl Malan Street between South Street and Wilshammer Street would be converted from a two-way carriageway to a one-way northbound route with managed vehicular access, according to the proposal.
