JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia processed 778 chemical clearance service requests in April, a monthly increase of 29 percent, as industrial permitting activity rebounded alongside efforts to support manufacturing growth and investment.
Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah, spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, said the April processed requests included 703 applications for clearance of unrestricted chemical imports and 75 applications for permits to import restricted chemicals, noting that the requests covered a total of 2,758 items, according to an official statement by the ministry.
Al-Jarrah explained that the chemical clearance service enables industrial investors to request import or export clearance for chemicals used in industrial facilities through the “Senaei” platform, which is provided electronically to the investors in the industrial sector.
He said applications are submitted through the facility, adding that “the service aims to ensure that chemical clearances are granted through streamlined procedures and in a timely manner, facilitating the entry of materials through ports.”
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of the service in enhancing industrial output by streamlining and developing mechanisms for obtaining clearances for chemicals used in production, as well as automating these processes within the industrial sector’s digital services platform, thereby strengthening digital services that support industrial investors.
