A mild heat wave is sweeping across 41 districts in Bangladesh, including the capital Dhaka, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) says.

In its weather forecast on Wednesday, the department said the Dhaka, Narayanganj, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Lakshmipur, Barishal, Patuakhali and Bhola districts, the eight districts in the Rajshahi Division, the eight districts in the Rangpur Division and the 10 districts in the Khulna Division are experiencing a mild to moderate heat wave that will continue into Thursday.

However, the heat wave may ease by Friday, said BMD Meteorologist Md Abdul Hamid Mia.

Meanwhile, the BMD has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers with squally or gusty winds and lightning in some places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and one or two places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal divisions on Wednesday and in some places in the Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and one or two places in the Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions on Thursday.

Meteorologist Hamid said that if it rains, the temperature may decrease slightly, but the heat wave will continue in most parts of the country on Thursday.
