Malacañang on Wednesday said the investigation into alleged flood control anomalies will continue despite the arrest of several high-profile individuals, including Senator Jinggoy Estrada and former Public Works secretary Manuel Bonoan.Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has assured that the probe will proceed, especially if more questionable projects are identified.“Yes. Katulad po ng sinabi ni Secretary Vince, patuloy pa rin po ’yan,” Castro said in a Balitanghali interview.(Yes. As Secretary Vince said, the investigation will continue.)“At kung may makikita pa po na mga proyekto na talagang maanomalya, ’yan naman po ay nasa Ombudsman na rin po at DOJ at patuloy po ang pag-iimbestiga rito. Hindi po ’yan titigil,” she added.(And if there are more projects found to be anomalous, the Ombudsman and the DOJ will also act on these. The investigation will not stop.)The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division on Monday issued arrest warrants against Estrada, Bonoan, and others over P573-million plunder and graft charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman.Estrada has denied the allegations.He and three co-accused in the flood control case are now detained at the Quezon City Jail–Male Dormitory in Payatas, according to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).Bonoan, meanwhile, has been in and out of the hospital after surrendering to authorities.
