“Bull Durham” is considered by critics and sports historians to be one of the greatest baseball movies ever made. Written and directed by Ron Shelton, the romantic sports comedy was a massive box office hit and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Shelton was actually a former professional baseball player who spent five years grinding through the Baltimore Orioles' minor league system.
