More than 1,700 children, parents, educators, authors and book lovers participated in the eighth edition of the Akada Children’s Book Festival held in Lagos.

The festival, which took place at Rugby School Nigeria, Eko Atlantic, featured book exhibitions, workshops, storytelling sessions and competitions aimed at promoting reading among children.

Founder of the festival, Olubunmi Aboderin Talabi, in a statement on Tuesday, said the initiative was established to improve children’s access to books that reflect their experiences and encourage a reading culture.

“The Akada Children’s Book Festival was created out of a clear need to address the gap in children’s access to books that are not only available but also meaningful, relatable, and reflective of their lived experiences.
