President Cyril Ramaphosa has approved the increase of salaries for members of the Public Service Commission.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has approved substantial annual salary increases of about R97,000, R94,100, and R72,500 a year for the chairperson, deputy chairperson, and commissioners of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
According to the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), PSC Chairperson Professor Somadoda Fikeni, his deputy Dr Zukiswa Mqolomba, and the 11 commissioners will earn annual salaries of R2.52 million, about R2.45m, and nearly R1.886m a year, respectively.
The DPSA said in terms of the PSC Act, the authority is vested in Ramaphosa to determine the remuneration and any conditions of service of the chairperson, deputy chairperson, and commissioners.
In addition, the chairperson’s, deputy chairperson’s and commissions’ conditions of service (including their inclusive flexible remuneration packages) are derived from (or linked to) the salaries and conditions of service which apply to comparable (identified) senior management positions in the public service.
