The US State Department said political and security discussions between Lebanon and Israel continue to make progress, describing the negotiations as part of an effort to achieve a comprehensive agreement between the two sides.
In remarks on Tuesday, the department said Washington is working to overcome “the failures of the past 20 years” and that negotiations are advancing towards a broader deal.
According to the State Department, the proposed agreement is intended to restore Lebanon’s sovereignty while guaranteeing Israel’s security.
